tune that I keep humming to

Can't recall where I heard this track, but the tune kept ringing in my ear. Swear to God!!!

revisit karate kid part 2

a short revisit of Karate Kid part 2,
"A person with no forgiveness in heart, living is worse than dying." - Mr Miyagi

"never put passion before principle, even if you win, you lose." - Mr Miyagi

Went to ABC market to have wanton noodles in the afternoon 2 bucks for 3 wanton :) Value for money. Dark sauce for the noodles garnished to perfection. After that went to Ikea and got 10 sausage buns and a pack of aroma candles.
Went home with a log cake that I got in Swiss bakery across the building an hour later.

The new Karate Kid

I grew up watching the first of the karate Kid starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. Love the dialogues and the interesting Karate training techniques that Mr Miyagi uses. I strongly recommend this movie to anybody who feel like they are constantly being bullied in school.

Guess what? they are NOT remaking the first karate kid, instead they are directing Jackie Chan as the master and Jaden Smith as his disciple. Is Jaden Smith's dad, Will Smith? Anyone?

Lots of grave reviews about this movie on youtube. I shan't comment on that but nothing can surpass the original Karate Kid.

Xmas dinner at Chong Pang wet market

Went to Chong Pang wet market for dinner. Bee hoon fish soup hawker was selling satay instead of what they had posted on their store front (fish bee hoon). Asked them how long was the wait for 10 sticks of satay. Their answer: 1 Hour plus. Ok No thanks.
And the other fish ball noodle stall was preparing Yew Tiao Tau Pok and rojak. The only way to figure out what to eat was to refer to what they were preparing within the stall itself.
Had hokkien yee mee, bee hoon and grilled fish from a corner western food stall.

Rating:
Yee Mee and Bee Hoon (good dark sauce but small portion)
Grilled fish (slightly overcook fish but decent amount, value for money)

Loiter around for a little while and got two brown towel for 12 bucks. Then later went to NOrthpoint to find out that Bakerzinn has already sold all their log cakes. :(
Went home on 855 thereafter.

glued to the screen on a Tuesday evening

watching the first episode of Leverage. I am totally sucked in. New genre and good pilot episode. I hope the rest of the series live up to as good as the first episode. Oh, there are already in season 2

Tuesday at home

I spend a little more time to understand the story behind the Son's of Anarchy. And I am beginning to like watching how the character develops on the plot. The plot gets thicken when one of the Son's of Anarchy, Opie, got sabotage by ATF (Police) by making him looks like he rat out on the club.

My lower back is still hurting. I feel spasm whenever I get up. Starring at the celing all day long is not fun.

Fresh look for the NCC room (2010)

Not bad for half a day's work :)

Late night feed on a Wednesday

Been watching two new tv series out in the US market. Dark Blue is not bad for a starter. good plot and I like one of the good undercover cops, Dean, play by Logan Marshall-Green. Long name eh? First few episodes; story was good and original.

I am now down to the third episode of Son's of Anarchy. Couldn't relate to the characters at first because they're the good guys amongst the bad guys. How should I put it? Underneath a legitimate motor-bike repair garage, they run a gun smuggling and dealing business. They got their shipment of supplies from Ireland direct. Yup! from the Ireland Republican Army.

Ren Duo Hao Ban Shi :P

No ordinary human beings who live here in this country can look that good. Yeah. But no impossible with a lot of plastic surgery.

wednesday

Korean all boy and all girl band are getting out of hand. 10 members strong for each group. That's crazy. You have got to be either extremely talented in order to stand out amongst the 10.

Going to paint the NCC room with the cadets tomorrow. :P

mid week

I went back to office today. Picked up textbooks for 1N, 2E and 4NT from the library. Got the new sec 1 syllabus from Mr Chye. He said I lost weight. Wonder if it was true or did he pay everyone the same compliment. Watched the Fisher King on dvd and it was good. So good that I cried at several scene.

Remember watching it during uni days, but I did not remember sobbing this much back then. Maybe I could not grasp the intense emotions. Anyone with a little time to spare should spend a little patience and time to watch this flick. I highly recommend it. This is one of the better movies by Robin Willams and Jeff Bridges.
This scene makes me cry. Lots to say about love. :)I like that part when she touches his face and say "you're real, aren't you?".

Saturday in Queensway

Went to ABC market for lunch today. Had wanton mee, Penang kuay teow and carrot cake. Nice and cheap. The 2 dollar portion is quite decent. Enough for a small person with a tiny appetite. And not forgetting the $1.50 pineapple/orange and dragon fruit juice. After that, went to Ikea and bought a cabinet drawer, a standing lamp and a vase. Following that, went back to a coffee shop next to ABC market to pack vegetarian Sambal fish and tou fu for dinner. Came back home and had dinner and watched Public Enemy on dvd.

Went to NTUC to get potato chips during intermission. Bought potato chips, mini-magnum ice cream and a dozen eggs. Got home right after to finish the rest of the movie.

the lighting and clarity of the film makes it look more like a home-video which takes getting use to. But the story-line is good with lotsa good actors.

Time check 23:53. Sleeping soon.

Friday

Finally got in the habit of excising regularly. Let's hope I can keep up the daily routine for the next two weeks until school re-opens. (fingers cross)

I heard this track at the end the movie, "The Blind Side." The lyrics of the song make sense. :)

And they say that the Fray sounds a lot like Five for Fighting. YOu be the judge!

PIXIE LOTT... YEAH!

Today I declare myself a newly convert fan of Pixie Lott. Her rendition of Lady Ga Ga's poker face is so so good. I like her version of Stevie Wonder's, isn't she lovely. :) Sweet!

I cannot find the video link of her single, Cry me out, which is in her new album.

Her singing voice is definitely more mature than her speaking voice.

Yo-yo Ma and the Honker & Dinger

another interesting performance by the honkers and Dinger and Yo-Yo Ma

Bobby Mcferrin & Jorane - Riopel

I like the first 30 seconds of this video. The raw sound of the cello and her voice makes a perfect fit. This kind of performances are never the same because they are often improvise at that very moment. Good expression using music and vocals. Wish I can get a copy of that performance and watch it on a bigger screen with better sound. :(

Bobby McFerrin & Judi Donaghy

I am speechless. Some people are so darn gifted. :P

tuesdays

An early video of Bruce Willis and a song he sang with the Temptations. He is actually a handsome dude, other than him exhibiting some unsightly leg crossing action and that extremely tight fitting jeans; definitely un-manly.

tuesday

Like it or not work has to be done. I have to kick myself in the butt to get even the least bit going. Self motivation is awfully hard. All I want to do is D A N C E like this till there is NO tomorrow.

Saturday in Johor

Went to JB today with the family. And then the dad decided to take us up to near Desaru for seafood at Jade Garden Seafood Corner at Sungai Rengit, Johor. Food was ok, but the potato leaves fried with Sambal chilli was our favaourite. Causeway was congested in the morning but the way back in the evening was a lot smoother.

Here is a different write up about the place I went for lunch.

mid week

I have loads of spare time. And I am going to spend the day doing non-work related things. Yup! That was my goal for the day. So I decided to source for the old local channel 8 drama and I found some that are nice to watch.
